Messages From the Past was inspired by a visit to Bandelier National Monument in northern New Mexico, where traces of those who came before remain etched into canyon walls and ancient stone.
Layers of earthy color, gestural marks, and richly textured surfaces suggest fragments of memory—weathered, mysterious, and still present. Created as a diptych, the two panels speak to one another across the space between them, inviting the viewer to imagine the stories held within the landscape.
Created with oil paint, oil sticks, and cold wax on cradled birch panels.
16 × 28 inches overall
Oil, oil stick & cold wax on cradled birch panel
Painted sides; no framing necessary.
This work is a diptych. The two paintings may also be purchased individually. Please inquire.
