Welcome Spring!

Welcome Spring!!

Spring has finally appeared on the calendar, just not necessarily in your neck of the woods friends. Here in sunny Florida we’re enjoying a beautiful start to the season and art shows and exhibits are in full swing. My show at the Highlands Museum of the Arts in Sebring, FL is winding down to a close on March 29. I don’t have another show planned till November this year which leaves lots of time to create new work.

I’ve been painting away on smaller works the past couple months using an oil and cold wax method and really loving the results. These paintings are created by applying many layers oil paint mixed with a cold wax medium (made with bees wax) and then removing some of the layers to reveal the underlying paint layers. It’s kind of like excavating a painting to find its history.

Here are just a few of the new paintings created with this method.

There is a certain luminosity with the oil paints that I don’t find with acrylics. Acrylics are still my go to for painting, but it’s great to have a second set of tools in my tool box.

If you’d like more information on these paintings, or any of my others, I invite you to visit my website. And, don’t forget I offer complimentary US shipping and convenient payment plans can be set up anytime. I love to make it easy for my art to find their forever homes.

Thank you for your continued support friends. If you know of someone who might enjoy my artwork, I would be honored if you shared this blog with them. And, if your friend makes a purchase from your referral, there will be a little something in it for you!!

May 2019 continue to brighten your lives with color.

Do You Love Fashion?

Do You Love Fashion?

I have always loved fashion, but not in the way you might think. I've never been one for the latest fashion trends as trends are just that, they all go away ultimately.  One of the things I enjoyed most about leaving the corporate world after 30 years was the ability to finally dress like I really wanted. Simple but stylish, easy and comfortable style. No more suits and heels for this girl. It was so liberating and was a better fit for my personal style.

I am so excited to create a fashion line for VIDA. Their fashion line consists of clothing I actually enjoy wearing. And, even if you still have to wear a suit to the office, one of my tops under a jacket works beautifully.

If you haven't seen my fashion line, I invite you to visit now as everything is 25% off with FREE SHIPPING till 8/31/17. Don't miss out on the savings my friends. Just click the photo below to visit my shop. Enter code:sunshine25 at check out to take advantage of the savings!!

I am very proud of my fashion line with VIDA. All products are produced upon order and designed and custom printed from my original artwork. You'll find tops, scarves, wraps, leather bags, jewelry and more. Choose your favorite artwork and then find it in my fashion line. This is truly wearable art.

It's Show Season

It's Show Season

My artist friend, Elizabeth Fontaine-Barr and I hosted a joint show at Tampa's Red Door no. 5 gallery on April 7. What a beautiful show it is with the combination of Elizabeth's expressionistic landscapes and my abstract art. And, the title "Color Chemistry" couldn't be more perfect as we are both paint with bright, bold colors.  I thought I'd share a few photos from the evening because we are so proud of this exhibit.

If you're in the area and would like to see the show, please contact me and I'd be happy to arrange a visit at your convenience. Photos do not do this show justice.

The weekend of this show I was a very busy artist. The next day I had a popup shop at our local Pottery Barn in Hyde Park and then on Sunday I attended and volunteered at the Las Damas de Artes annual Sunday in the Arts fundraiser where one of my paintings sold. An exhausting but wonderful art filled weekend.

I'm searching for new venues to show my art friends. I'll keep you posted on where I'll be. In the meantime, please visit my website for new works added weekly and daily posts on my Facebook page.

Thank you so much for continued friendship and support. It means the world to me! Wishing you a beautiful weekend to come wherever you are.
