Daisies on Parade

May 12, 2016

Daisies on Parade 1 and 2

After four weekends in my garden getting it cleaned up and ready for the new season I was naturally inspired to paint flowers.  Daisies on Parade are companion paintings, both 20" x 20" on gallery wrapped canvas.  They also look fabulous on other home decor products.

And, of course they make adorable tote bags for the beach, picnics and just running errands.

Perhaps you're ready to make a change in your powder room with the new season.  Did you know my artwork can also be reproduced on shower curtains?

“If you ask me what my favorite flower is,
I will answer daisies.

You will say that they are simple and boring,
and i will say that i love them because of that.

Because nothing in this world is simple anymore.”
— Ludmilla Marie Andersen

And, here are a couple pics from my garden now that it is once again presentable.  Would love to have you all over for a garden party.

Thanks again friends for taking time to visit with me.  I hope you have enjoyed this post and a little glimpse into my garden which inspired these new paintings.  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend to come.

Blessings, Mary

Going Big and Bold!!!

May 4, 2016

Last week was a whirlwind week for me.  For the past year I've been longing to attend a painting workshop to develop my abstract style.  Well, I hit the jackpot last week with Filomena Booth's "Go Big Go Bold Abstract Painting Workshop" three day workshop.  What an amazing three days.  I came home each evening exhausted and excited for the next day.

Sticks and Stones is one of the three paintings created at the workshop.  These are the largest paintings I've done to date.  The whole purpose of the workshop was to break out of my comfort zone and learn to paint BIG using new techniques.  Now I am obsessed with painting on a large scale, but I know I'll always paint smalls.

Additionally, I was featured on our local PBS station, WEDU, on their weekly Arts Plus segment. What an honor for me and I'm still pinching myself to make sure it wasn't a dream.  Here's the segment if you'd like to learn a little more about me and what inspires my art.  I hope you'll enjoy it.

I have been asked if I could paint larger paintings and the answer is YES.  I also take commissions, so just message me if there's something you'd like me to create for you.

Thanks so much for riding along on this journey with me friends.  I am still exploring and finding my way.  If you enjoy my art, please do share my site with your friends.  Shares are most welcome.

Wishing you all a wonderful upcoming weekend.  And for all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day!!!

Blessings ~ Mary

Spring Fever ....Artist Style

April 13, 2016

Are you having a case of Spring Fever too?  I am, but I've been so busy in the studio that I've been neglecting my garden.  The first few months of 2016 have been non-stop shows and exhibits for my art.  I am so happy as I never thought I'd be this busy so early in my new "career".  If you've been following me you might remember that I only started painting two years ago.  Being in my late 50's, I feel there is a lot of catching up I need to do.  This has left my poor garden unattended.

Nothing like a garden tour at your home in May to force me back to reality and get my garden back in shape.  My garden club chooses a member each year to visit their garden for a meeting.  I'm sure I could have postponed mine until next year, but I'm not a quitter!  Good thing I have a few weekends left in the month.  My garden shed has been featured on the cover of national publications.  This is a lot of pressure LOL.

I'm also late announcing the "Steal of the Month".  I've selected the very sweet Four Daisies for this month.  This piece is so lovely with an impasto style technique for the flower petals.  I know you'll love it.

Have a wonderful rest of the month friends.  Thanks so much for your wonderful support and comments.  I love hearing from you so don't be shy.  I also love it when you share my art with your friends.  Now, I'm off to do a little weeding.

Happy gardening,  Mary
