Flew Like the Wind

Flew Like the Wind

Is it me, or does it seem like January flew like the wind? As I write this there are only two days left in the month. My schedule is quickly filling up for the next few months so I thought I’d share a few things that are coming up.

Next weekend I’ll be doing a demo on painting with oil and cold wax for the wonderful members of the Treasure Island Arts Guild as well as serving as judge for their current art exhibit. I love sharing my techniques with other artists. This photo is from a demo done in 2019 for the Brandon League of Fine Arts.

Love live painting and your picture snapped for eternity is with a funny facial expression.

I am exited to announce my art will be featured locally at Dwell Home, Tampa Bay's first unique shopping experience full of furniture, design and decor. The grand opening is February 15 from 12 to 5 pm. If you’re in the area, please do stop by to enjoy live entertainment, free food and drinks and more.

I’m so happy to be back in the studio painting. Here are my newest paintings for 2020.

The last painting was snapped up so fast by one of my Facebook fans I didn’t even have it titled. I gave that honor to my newest collector from Arizona now residing in New Hampshire. It brings me such joy when my art can evoke wonderful memories for my fans and collectors.

In March I’ll have a few artworks displayed in a wonderfully curated group show opening March 14 at The Cider Press Cafe in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. The theme is Landscapes:Interpreted. More on this show coming next month.

If you’d like to take a peek at all my available artwork, simply click the gallery button below. Please feel free to contact me with questions on any artworks. And, remember I offer very convenient payment plans. I want to work with you so you can enjoy artwork you love.

Thank you so much for being fans, patrons and collectors of my art. Your support means the world to me. Wishing you and yours a fabulous February.

Blessings from your artist friend, Mary

New Year, New Decade, New Inspiration

I’m still finding it difficult to think we’re already a week into 2020. Hope your holiday season was a wonderful one. I am so thrilled to be back in the studio creating new artwork. I believe this year will find me painting more abstracted landscapes with my newly found love of oil paints in 2019. At the beginning of last year I decided to give oils a try. Not only did I find them fun and luscious to paint with, but the element of surprise is always there. Unlike acrylics, correcting mishaps in oil is not an easy task. I now welcome the little “happy accidents”.

Luckily, I have many photographs from last summer’s trip to Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico for an endless source of inspiration. And, I’m already planning my next trip to Santa Fe for this summer. Be prepared for lots more painting coming from the charming adobe casita I rent just off Canyon Road.

This is my first work in progress for 2020. Done in oil and cold wax on a cradled birch panel. I’m really loving the results so far, and with a few more tweaks this one should be done soon. Any suggestions on what I should call this one friends? Just send your suggestion via a comment below.

My next art exhibit will be in March. I’ll be participating in a group exhibit with a landscape theme. I’ll keep you posted when I have more information. In the meantime, you can always see my available artwork on my online gallery. Just click the button below to visit my gallery.

I have an exciting new opportunity coming up next month. I’ll be joining a new local home decor boutique to show my artwork. The grand opening is in February, so I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have more to share. Fingers crossed this will be another great avenue to show my art.

Thank you so much for being fans, patrons and collectors of my art. Your support means the world to me. Wishing you and yours the best of all things in 2020 and the new decade to follow.

Artist friends coming out to support my opening.

My last art exhibit for 2019 opened November 22 at TECO Public Art Gallery in downtown Tampa, Florida. This was my third solo exhibit this year and what a wonderful way to end the year. So many great friends and family came out to show their support. They even listened attentively while I gave a brief artist talk.

So many of you are scattered all over the country, so I wanted to share just a few photos from the evening. And, if you are local and still want to see the exhibit it will be up through January 6, 2020. The TECO gallery is open Monday - Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

I am thrilled to say one painting sold at the reception and I may have two commissions coming in 2020. So grateful to my wonderful collector and friend Dani, for adding another of my artworks to her collection. There are several mini and small artworks available that would make lovely gifts for the art lover on your list. Just visit my online shop here.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Debra Radke, curator for the TECO art gallery. We’ve been working on this exhibit for over a year now, and Debra did an amazing job curating this show.
