Spring Has Arrived

Spring Has Arrived

It looks like Punxsutawney Phil was correct this year and Spring has arrived early, at least here in Florida. Flowers and trees are blooming and my heart has turned to a lighter color palette. While I haven’t fully embraced green, it has started to make small appearances in my new art. Here are some new works in progress using a Spring like palette.

A happy accident resulted in my discovering a fabulous shade of turquoise blue. The kind that reminds me so much of my turquoise jewelry with its beautiful matrix marks. The matrix is formed by the thin veins of the host stone. These veins interweave throughout the stone, creating a unique pattern which contrasts with the blues, greens, earthy browns, rust, and black coloration. The first few paintings done with this new palette have sold, but I’ll be creating more very soon.

This sweet mini 6 x 6 inches painting was created using the new turquoise blues. I’ll be adding more of these sweet minis and larger pieces to my website soon.

I’ll be heading back to Santa Fe, New Mexico at the beginning of May for my annual summer stay. I’m looking forward to seeing that brilliant blue sky, adobe architecture and all the fabulous art galleries. I’m very honored to be represented in Santa Fe by Hat Ranch Gallery and Turquoise Butterfly Gallery. Each year brings new inspiration and new direction in my work.

You can always find my available artwork on my online gallery. Don’t forget that I offer complimentary US shipping and flexible payment plans. If you’re in the Tampa area, stop by Dwell Home to see some of my art. Dwell is a new home decor and styling shop that proudly supports local Tampa artists.

Thank you so much for being fans, patrons and collectors of my art. Your support means the world to me, and I wouldn’t be here without your support.

Blessings from your artist friend, Mary

Magic is seeing wonder in nature’s every little thing, seeing how wonderful the fireflies are and how magical are the dragonflies.

Talisman

Do you keep a rabbit's foot or other symbol of good luck friends?  Perhaps you have a pressed four leaf clover from a day in the park.  A talisman is an object which is believed to contain certain magical or protective properties which would provide good luck for the possessor or possibly offer protection from evil or harm.

My husband and I have been collectors of Native American art for 20+ years, and love learning the stories behind the art.  Our affection for this art can be found in every room of our home as our "addiction" grew.

Turquoise is one of the oldest protection talismans, and was also known as a symbol of wealth in many ancient cultures. Strength, protection from harm, psychic sensitivity and connection to the spirit world can all be associated with the resplendent turquoise gemstone.

Many of my paintings include the color turquoise.  I am naturally drawn to this color whenever I pick up a paint brush, and in this painting the colors leap unto the canvas in layers upon layers of blues and turquoise.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.  Thank you for taking time to visit friends.  ~~Mary

Legend has it that the Native American Indians danced and rejoiced when the rains came. Their tears of joy mixed with the rain and seeped into Mother Earth to become Turquoise.
